Johnny Depp – up to "2014" Lifestyle Updates.
Johnny Depp (152 pounds, 5 feet 10 inches).

The men in Hollywood work as hard as the women to keep themselves looking slim and toned, and Johnny Depp is no exception. Depp is always in the best shape whether he’s preparing for a role or not. He does this by following a diet that’s low in calories, with no oily food, and low in sodium in addition to drinking a gallon of green tea- often believed to aid in weight loss and boost metabolism.

Depp was born in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1963 to waitress Betty Sue and engineer John Christopher. His parents were slightly nomadic, taking Depp and his three older siblings around the country, moving to more than twenty different locations. His parents settled and later divorced in Florida, and it was his mother’s late second husband Robert Palmer that Dep cites as "an inspiration to me". It was music that first called out to Depp and that ambition made him drop out of high school for dreams of becoming a rock musician. Depp’s first band The Kids enjoyed some local success, which encouraged them to shift to Los Angeles in search of a record deal. The band split up but that set the stage for Depp’s marriage to make-up artist Lori Anne Allison, which led him to a meeting with Nicolas Cage who pushed Depp to get into acting – the field he would eventually flourish in.

Depp is an American actor, film producer, and musician who skyrocketed into fame in the 1980s television series 21 Jump Street. He instantly became a teen cult icon and this success allowed him the freedom to selectively choose roles that he was challenged by. This actor’s resume centers around odd, quirky, exuberantly weird characters. He played the oddly charming lead in Edward Scissorhands (1990) and found financial success in the thriller Sleepy Hollow (1999). What separates Depp from other actors is that he does not simply play a scripted role, but melds collaboration with the director and his own personal creatively to create unique roles. His portrayal of Jack Sparrow came from improvisation and is one of the biggest reason the Pirates of the Caribbean (2003–present) franchise has been a success.

A look at the actor’s resume and the name Tim Burton will be easy to spot – Depp has worked with the director in eight different films. Not only as People magazine twice named him the "Sexiest Man Alive" (2003 and 2009) but also Depp can proudly call himself one of the highest paid actors in the industry, with figures around $75 million. Other films credits include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2010), and Rango (2011).

Health and Wellness

The secret to aging should come from Depp, as the actor does not look 51 years at all. He is very specific about the content of his food, often checking nutrient density and ingredient lists to make sure he is making the best choice. This is a great way to make sure, no additional salt or fat that sometimes is added to manufactured food stays out of your diet. The celebrity likes white fish, chicken breast, green vegetables and soy products.

Another good tip from Depp’s diet is to avoid sugary fruits. Often fruits are eaten indiscriminately as the name suggests a healthy option. Yet each fruit is very different in terms of composition and some types are healthier than others. Other foods in Depp’s diet include whole grains, nuts and seeds. He also is a major advocate of green tea, sometimes drinking the beverage religiously. Further his current girlfriend, Amber Heard, has motivated the actor to try a vegan diet of six meals a day combined with protein supplements. Along with a balanced diet, the actor does push ups, squats, dips, dumbbell curls, and bicep curls at the gym to maintain his body. For his Pirates role Depp studied sword fighting which taught him both speed and flexibility.
